Chief Petty Officer Aviles Sr.

Meet Joseph B. Aviles Sr; he was the first Hispanic American chief petty officer in the U.S. Coast Guard. Something that inspired me about him was how hard he worked to get to Chief petty officer. One of the challenges Joseph B. Aviles faced when he was younger was in an orphanage. The orphanage name was Mission of the Immaculate Virgin orphanage, at Mount Loretto. He didn’t let this stop him. He overcame these challenges by joining the cadet program at Mount Loretto. That started his path toward the Coast Guard. Advice he would give to young people would be to follow your dreams and work hard to get higher in your field. To push through even in hard times. A similarity I have with him is to work hard. I always give my best and try my best.
