COVID has taken a toll on me....

My junior year was meant to be the year I get the best grades, the year that I’d rack up on as many volunteer hours and sea time that I can. I had a plan for my junior year that didn’t involve “remote learning” or “social distancing”. This time of year is always the busiest for me because as NYC starts to warm up I get to collect sea time and get internships. What I’m looking forward to the most is an internship, I’ve been waiting for one for 3+ years already. I not only want the experience that it gives, but also the money I can save up from it for college. I have volunteered so much of my high school life towards harbor school and other organizations because I was told that it would help me gain jobs and internships but that hasn’t been the case at all. I volunteered over the summer for indock a week long program helping introduce freshmen to harbor school for two year in a row. I volunteered my summer with discovering  Amistad and with the B.O.P but I’m starting to think that all I’m going to get out of that is the experience, not a job or internship to apply that experience. The main goal that my minds set on is college and volunteer hours aren’t gonna get me there by themselves. I would love to get paid to do something that I love but if I don’t get an internship or job maritime related I’m going to have to get one that’s not related because college isn’t cheap.
