On May, 5th, 2018 Ryan and I had the opportunity to go on The New York Media Boat and take a tour of New York Harbor. Lieutenant John Smerina also a Captain for the NYPD harbor gave us the tour with other tourists on board. We started the tour at North Cove and went up to pier 40. We looked at many passing boats in the harbor and we were conversing with Captain John with about the possible opportunities that we have in this harbor. He talked about the history and significance of the buildings along the waterfront on the west side. We went further up past the 79th pier then we started to head back down towards the battery and we talked to the tourists about the significance of Governors Island. The tourists were very intrigued about the work that New York Harbor School was doing with educating the students of New York in maritime related topics. We then went up to the statue and worked with Captain John holding the boat in place with the strong currents at the statue. The New York Media Boat is a rigid inflatable hull boat about 30 feet in length with 2 350 hp engines. Thank you too Bjoern Kils, Lieutenant John Smerina and the members of New York Media Boat.
