*throws Oscar overboard*
Primary responses* happens quick,
Oscar falls over
Call man overboard,
Throw the life ring and keep a spotter
As fast as possible to make a quick recovery
That’s under 2 minutes.
Secondary responses** you need to think more,
Listen for directions from the Captain to
Grab the boat hook,
Get the harness and call out distances
5...4...3...2...1 foot!
Stay close to Oscar.
Grab him with the boat hook
And pull him up.
Oscar is now saved :)
*A primary response is when you don’t have to think about doing something.
**A secondary response is what you’re told to do.
Man overboard drills are important to do because during an emergency we need to know what to do and how to do it. If someone does fall in the water everyone will know how to react. They will not panic and do it quickly to save the person.
