This past Friday, while the rest of the school buzzed about with the happenings of the regatta, three of us snuck away to represent Harbor School at the Sandy Hook Pilots Harbor Tour. We were warmly welcomed by Captain John Decruz, president of the New York/ New Jersey Sandy Hook Pilots Association and board member of the Harbor Foundation. Throughout the tour, Kimberly and I got to talk to a couple people with great stories. The tour was great for talking to Coast Guard Commanders as well as the Pilots themselves. Additionally, we got to see first hand a lot of aspects of shipping that we'd learned about in class.

We had an amazing time. I'm really grateful for an exciting opportunity to start the school year.
